Novelist Stéphane Belcourt agrees to be the guest of honour at a celebration for the famous distillery brand of cognac, even though he does not drink alcohol. Stéphane returned to his hometown of Cognac for the first time in 35 years. He is also there to face the memories of his first love. The people & places he returns to evoke many feelings from the past. He meets Lucas, the son of his first love, Thomas Andrieu. Stéphane and Lucas go on an occasionally painful journey of discovery about who Thomas really was and why he did what he did throughout his life.
