The plot of this movie revolves around Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach of the Indian football team, who faces the threat of being fired after their significant defeat in the 1952 Olympics. He insists on selecting the team himself, scouting talent from across the country. However, his efforts are met with opposition from media tycoon Mr. Roy and the football committee’s management, who prefer players exclusively from Bengal.
Despite these challenges, the team finished fourth in the 1956 Olympics, achieving a record that still stands. However, their performance in the 1960 Olympics resulted in an early elimination in the first round, leading to Rahim’s dismissal by the management. Nevertheless, the team receives praise from French fans during a match against France.
Amidst these events, Rahim faces a personal battle. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and given limited time to live. Yet, he continues to dream of coaching the Indian football team for the 1962 Asian Games, showcasing his unwavering dedication and passion for the sport.
