Tarot (2024) is an American supernatural horror film written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, in their first feature film, and co-written by Nicholas Adams. A group of friends, including Haley, Grant, Paxton, Paige, Madeline, Lucas, and Elise, rent a mansion in the Catskills for Elise’s birthday. Despite tensions from Haley and Grant’s recent breakup, they use a mysterious tarot deck found in the basement for readings. Each receives ominous cards, with Elise drawing the High Priestess and Haley drawing Death.
After returning to campus, Elise is killed by a monstrous High Priestess, followed by Lucas’s death at the hands of The Hermit. Realizing the deaths align with their tarot readings, they seek help from occult expert Alma Astryn. She reveals the cursed deck’s deadly history and advises destroying the cards. However, their respective tarot figures kill Madeline, Paige, Alma, and Grant during their attempt.
In a final confrontation, Haley uses the deck to curse the spirit of the astrologer. She ends the curse by letting go of her mother’s death. Haley and Grant reconcile, and along with Paxton, who narrowly escaped The Fool, they survive the ordeal.
