The Idea of You (2024) is an American romantic comedy film directed by Michael Showalter. He co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Westfeldt, based on Robinne Lee’s novel. The film follows a single mother who falls in love with the lead singer of a popular boy band.
Solène, a 40-year-old single mother, embarks on an unforeseen romance with Hayes Campbell, the 24-year-old front man of August Moon, the world’s most popular boy band. When her ex cancels at the last minute, Solène steps in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival. There, she meets Hayes, and an immediate, undeniable attraction ignites. As their whirlwind romance unfolds, Hayes’ superstar fame brings inevitable challenges, and Solène realizes that life in his spotlight may be more complicated than she anticipated.
