The Roundup: Punishment (2024) is a South Korean action crime film directed by Heo Myung-haeng and stars Ma Dong-seok, Kim Mu-yeol, Park Ji-hwan and Lee Dong-hwi. In the Philippines, Baek Chang-gi, head of an online gambling organization, kills Jo Sung-jae, an escaping worker. Consequently, casino admin Chang Dong-cheol promises Baek a larger share if he shuts down a rival casino. However, after Baek’s violent raid, Chang fails to keep his word. Feeling cheated, Baek then returns to South Korea to confront Chang.
Meanwhile, Detective Ma Seok-do investigates Jo’s murder and discovers an online gambling ring linked to money laundering. With help from Jang Yi-soo, Ma uncovers that Emperor’s Casino is behind the operation. Subsequently, Baek escalates the situation by killing several people, including a witness and a bribe representative.
When Ma’s team is disbanded, he convinces the commissioner to continue the investigation. They set up a fake casino to lure Emperor’s Casino, leading to a successful raid that confirms the link to QM Holdings. In a final move for control, Baek kills Chang. However, Ma’s team storms the villa, captures Baek, and dismantles the operation. Finally, they pay respects to Jo and his mother, and Jang is arrested for impersonating a cop.
