The Stolen Princess (2018) is a Ukrainian 3D animated fantasy film directed by Oleg Malamuzh and based on the fairy tale Ruslan and Ludmila by Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin. The film tells about a wandering artist named Ruslan who saves Princess Mila, kidnapped by an evil sorcerer named Chornomor.
The story centers on two timelines: a past conflict where sorcerer Chornomor defeats Finn, turning Finn’s wife, Nina, into a statue to harness her love as magic, and a present-day adventure where Ruslan, a wandering artist pretending to be a knight, falls in love with Princess Mila. Mila is kidnapped by Chornomor to restore his powers, leading Ruslan on a quest to rescue her. With help from his friend Lester, a wise cat, and eventually a rejuvenated Finn, Ruslan battles Chornomor, defeats him, and breaks his spell. Ruslan and Mila reunite and live happily ever after, with Ruslan confessing his true identity, which Mila accepts.
